Grow Your Public Health Career with CPHA

At the Connecticut Public Health Association, we believe that investing in future public health professionals strengthens our entire field. Our internships provide meaningful, hands-on experiences that allow students to contribute to real projects while developing practical skills and professional confidence.

CPHA interns work alongside experienced public health leaders, participate in statewide initiatives, and gain exposure to the many organizations and career paths that make up Connecticut's public health workforce. Through mentorship, networking, and meaningful project work, interns leave with valuable experience, expanded professional connections, and a deeper understanding of public health in practice.

Current Internship Opportunities

The following internship opportunities are available for the 2026–2027 academic year. Both internships are primarily remote, with a small number of required in-person meetings and events throughout the year. Review the descriptions below to learn more about each position and determine which opportunity is the best fit for your interests and goals.

Programs & Engagement Intern

Help shape the work of Connecticut's statewide public health association while gaining hands-on experience in communications, membership engagement, professional development, and event planning. Working alongside CPHA board members and volunteers, you'll contribute to initiatives that support public health professionals and students across the state while building valuable skills, expanding your professional network, and gaining exposure to a wide range of public health careers.

Ideal for: Undergraduate or graduate students interested in nonprofit leadership, communications, workforce development, or public health practice.

Format: Primarily remote, with limited in-person expectations, including attendance at CPHA's Annual Conference.

Public Health Policy & Advocacy Intern

Gain hands-on experience in public health advocacy while supporting CPHA's legislative and policy initiatives. Working with the Advocacy Committee and public health leaders from across Connecticut and the nation, you'll help track legislation, develop advocacy communications, contribute to policy initiatives, and gain firsthand exposure to how public health organizations influence policy and systems change.

Ideal for: Undergraduate or graduate students interested in public health advocacy, health policy, legislation, or government relations.

Format: Primarily remote, with limited in-person expectations, including attendance at CPHA's advocacy training day and Annual Conference.
